Departure from Marksuhl heading towards Foertha on the Werrabahn near Eisenach. 1600 tonne wood train. Sorry about quality and camera work, this was taken on my phone whilst I was taking stills with my other hand!

  • Do you know how many BR50 and BR52 locos operated in Germany today?

  • @Trainmaster189 Not sure, there are quite a lot though

  • Are they still useing Steam locomotives on Freight and passenger trains over there.

  • @squeekazoidsuxs No, this was a special occasion called 'Plandampf' where enthusiasts pay a fee for diesels and electrics to be replaced by steam for a few days. There is no scheduled, mainline steam left in Germany.
