Recorded live at Bella Pizza in Pulaski, Virginia on June 30, 2009. A "Steve Smith" original song that we can all relate to. Don't we all have somewhere that embraces our hearts that is truly "home" to us? Only to have to return to where we reside? Whether it is Memphis for you, or some other place, or even a chapter of your life, you'll find a ring of familiarity in the lyrics of this song. I know I did.
As to the music, Steve has bridged several styles/genres here. I hear influences such as Lonnie Mack, Robert Ward, Lightning Hopkins and even swamp blues sounds like Slim Harpo. I think I hear a little Creedence Clearwater Revival and John Fogerty; maybe even Bob Dylan! It sounds like rockabilly, and there's a trace of funk. Steve is using the vibrato on the amp to get that Magnatone amp sound. Lyrically, Steve has avoided Memphis cliches (like Beale St, Graceland, etc) and put together a winner.
Steve proudly endorses Victoria Amps and Don Mare Pickups.

Once again, scorp5543 has captured Steve in his excellence! He plays the blues like no other local artist I've heard! Hopefully, really soon, he'll be a nationally-known icon in the business! He definitely deserves it!

Good going Steve! Nice laid back style on the 6 strings, playing and singing from the heart. And the lyrics are dead on. Can't believe I've never been to Memphis!!
