Three lives, three destinies...

Pochi: ??Nov 2001-Feb 21, 2003: I found Pochi as a month or so old pup in a wayside slum, wailing due to a broken, leeding leg..luckily, immediate medical attention was possible, and other residents of our building did not object to the puppy being kept there..in time, Pochi grew into a beautiful, playful, and friendly dog..she loved joy rides on my Kinetic and would wheedle an occasional one from the local grocer in his tempo..she knew how to extract tasty tidbits from the local chinese fast food guys..that, over and above my egg-roti mix. She was neutered and was living happily when fate dealt a cruel blow in the form of Pune Municipal Corporation's cruel stray dog control policy. That night, Pochi and a whole lot of other stray dogs and some pet dogs as well, in our locality went to doggie heaven, thanks to poison-laced meat strewn by PMC all over the place..it was carnage! so many dogs, Pochi among them, lying dead all over the place...A couple of years later, killing of strays by poisoning was banned and a new policy of capturing and spaying them was put in place..thankfully, pochi's was one of the last mass poisoning incidents in Pune..
Chhotu: ??Nov 2003 to 20 July 2004: Chhotu was a runt, the only surviving pup in a litter, her chance at survival seemed real slim. Yet, miraculously she bounced back with regular care and attention crossed the crucial puppihood months. At 9 months, at the threshold of adulthood, she got run over :(
Bholu: Nov 2, 2003 to 5 Oct, 2005: Bholu lived long enough to give birth to two litters. She got hit by a vehicle and died due to internal injuries. She left behind a litter of six 6-week-old puppies. Two of them had disappeared by the time I decided to leave them with SPCA.

We do not see dogs without rings i.e. most of the stray dogs will be caught ......in Japan. We, people are to blame, not the poor doggies.

I really hope they have a good life.
