I personally am more of a jumps fan than flat, bit more excitement. I'd advise looking at a few videos of the Cheltenham Festival for cracking races. Breeders Cup is good but nothing compares to Cheltenham. And any counter arguements to my opinions will just be met with the phrase "Europeans invented the sport so we know best"

@Lauratherider I believe that it was Thomas Edison that perfected the lightbulb. ;-)

I like how Americans justs presume that all the best horses of all time come from there. In my opinion Sea The Stars has to be considered one of the greatest ever worldwide, lets not forget he's the highest rated horse in the world in 2009. Then horses like Shergar who was a once in a lifetime horse.

@5cardstudds The US might not have the best horses, but we don't retire our horses after the first year of racing. What kind of a "greatest horse ever" is that? You can't win the FIFA world cup one time, then retire the next year saying, "Im the greatest ever." Zenyatta meanwhile, raced two years, and won the greatest event in the US, BOTH YEARS!

Considering STS was worth over £100 million the only option was retirement. The breeding system in Europe means that often most of the best horses have to retire after 3 or 4. However, horses like Conduit come over and win your top turf races. Also Rip Van Winkle will stay in training next year and will win The BCC 2010.

Uh, I doubt it. For one thing, next year's BC is at Churchill which is solid dirt. So chances are he'll probably head to the Turf.
And also, you're forgetting one thing - Rachel Alexandra.

Agreed. Sea the Stars was obviously very talented, but I don't think that one year is enough time to say things like "one of the best horses of all time."
