jackson c frank lived only a short time. and no one really got to hear much of what he was singing.
a brilliant song writer.
this is one of my favorites of his.
a rebel song, of course. but with some hope that we have a direction.
peace
how about the text then.
course:
don't look back over your shoulder
keep your eyes on freedom shore
'cause you know the brave men with you
also pay the wages of war
vs. 1
you can read all about justice
in a million books and more
but there aren't words to bring back yevers
or pay the price that he stood for
course:
don't look back over your shoulder
keep your eyes on freedom shore
'cause you know the brave men with you
also pay the wages of war
vs 2
can't you hear the bells of selma
calling out their mournful chime
just another dead for justice
a sorrow that's yours and mine
course:
don't look back over your shoulder
keep your eyes on freedom shore
'cause you know the brave men with you
also pay the wages of war
vs 3
there is was in meka prison
many names that can bring hate
yet tear them down and ride them over
before you find it's just to late
course:
don't look back over your shoulder
keep your eyes on freedom shore
'cause you know the brave men with you
also pay the wages of war
i don't know who yevers or jevers was.
someone who likely found for freedom.
great stuff if you like folk, look for his music.
Great version - any chance you could tell me the chords...I can't find them anywhere on the net and you are the ONLY person who has EVER covered this song. I'd like to play it but don't know the chord progression... Many, many thanks...Rc

...me thinks the cat is actually gone mad here in my house, its acting like a mad-furball...this is an awesome tune you have here. I have always loved your style of picking the guitar. It makes it sound like a ukulaly some times which is awesome. Remember I never used a pick either...I use my thumb. But I never knew as many chords as you and my brothers...I'll check out the rest of your covers as long as the "comment police" don't cut me off ..peace:)
