In this clip at an IBSF Master Coach training that I ran, we discuss how to stop the cue ball effectively and with the least possible effort over long distances.

This exercise has helped professionals and amatuers alike - and here I am teaching the other coaches on how to instruct their students in this skill.

It helps me in my game too.

Interestingly, I dont think i have ever potted this many long straight reds in succession before having had no practice for months - later on i realised it was because I was talking all the way through, therefore 'taking my conscious mind off' what i was doing and allowing my unconscious mind to play the shots.

Watch out for the humour half way through when a fly is spotted on the edge of the table! Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • what a loser ....even i can do better then him and im just an amateur player =))))....i should start giving lessons..

  • He seems to be missing the primary point of achieving a stop shot at a long distance, which is, that the cue ball still has to have enough backspin by the time it hits the object ball that it won't continue to follow the object ball.

That means that at a long distance you HAVE to hit the cue ball harder over a longer distance in order to ensure that it hasn't lost it's backspin by the time it hits the object ball.

You can't slow roll it, or shoot it lightly if you want it to stop.
