UNDERSTANDING YOUR VOICE Session I
The purpose of this video series is to give you an overview of what goes in to developing your FULL voice. While you may have taken lessons or read books on some of the most common aspects of the voice, there are many things that get overlooked. These things will hold you back from singing your best. I would like to provide you with information that will help you change that.
In this introduction video Session I, I will outline a few of the things singers experience and steps needed to take your voice to the next level and beyond.
My "Create Your UNIQUE Singing Style" article explains this in more detail. It can be found at www.vocalcoach.ca

I sometimes feel like I'm not singing in a full voice, how should I avoid that or improve so I can always sing in full voice ? :)

This video was very useful so thank you for uploading it(: I have a question though. I've been trying to improve my singing but it's just not working I've been practicing everyday, warming up before I sing, using my diaphragm and basically trying out all the suggestions I find online. Absolutely nothings working and I can't get a vocal coach either :/

i can sing very well, but i get sinus infections and I feel like my voice is gone completely and I cannot sing at all sometimes. I feel discouraged when my voice is like that. I would love to know how to continue getting better during times where I'm sick.
whitfieldmusic1 1 year ago
When you are sick you should give your voice rest as you don't know if your infection may become worse or if an infection is starting in your throat. Breathing is 50% of your voice so when you are sick work on breathing exercises only. Monitor how you do the exercises carefully because you may feel tired when you are sick which may keep you from doing the exercises properly. An exercise done wrong will cause issues so only do what you feel you have the energy to do perfectly.

i used to be a good singer when i was alroun the age of 10 -12, but then it just went away and im 15 now and i cant sing like i used to, my voice cracks, i cant sing high notes or anything. i dont know if its because of puberty or maybe i strained my voice too much. is there a way i can get it back?
sunnshinee03 1 year ago
Because of the length of my answer I have sent my comments to you by email. Cracking is common but many things can be the cause so I am hoping to get a little more info from you which will allow me to be more specific with my feedback to you.

This may be more of a medical question:
I am recovering from Strep Throat, I am no longer contagious and my throat isn't really sore anymore, but for some reason my voice isn't coming back as fast. I have to start a week of concerts in 2 days!!! It feels like trouble is high in the throat almost the very back of the mouth. It sounds like I'm an old smoker, tight almost raspy, though it doesn't feel raspy, but it doesnt feel loose like it should either. Any advice or quick rememdies? Thanks.
jediam1 1 year ago
As you are performing I am going to assume that you already know the obvious things such as stay well hydrated, us proper mic technique, keep your ribcage in the open position needed for correct breathing etc. High notes are usualy the last to come back after an illness so you won't sing at 100% of your ability in two days. Due to space issues I can’t post voice care info but if you email me your email address I will send info that will help your recovery and care of your voice long-term.
