@macreal65 my friends grandad went to parris island in 66' and he said it was hell. The crazy amount of hazing, di's trying to get recruits to legit fight each other. Parris Island was different back in the day

1970, this was during the Vietnam War era. I hear that this is the most absolute toughest of the Marines boot camp that anyone can ever go through. Since I never served in the armed forces, I cannot confirm this. Yet, I have many friends and acquaintances that were or are currently Marines that told me this. I am quoting them directly. This is an interesting and insightful video.

I went through PI in 85. I'm not saying what we went through was a piece of cake. & the DI's didn't give us warm milk b4 lights out. But I kw for a fact that the pre Vietnam recruits caught hell that I only had a fraction of while in Boot Camp. They had to. They was get'n you Marines prepared for something that you just can't prepare for. To all Marines I love you. But to that Vietnam Marine, I hold you High & Above All. Because You All Gave Some. But Many Gave All. Semper-Fi Allways & 4ever!
