A feature interview with author Salman Rushdie. Literature plays an important role in providing insight into society. What can authors like Rushdie do to mend some of the divisions within Islam, and help non-Muslims better understand the faith?
Cat Stevens and those who are trying to silence those who expose or criticize Islam aren't bad Muslims. They ARE Muslims, obeying Qur''an 9:111, 38 and 39 that tells them to kill and be killed in Allah's cause.
Nawal El-Saadawi is an amazing author... as is Salman Rushdie. Looking forward to reading another book by this amazing author. I think it's natural the Rushdie would have a grudge against Cat Stevens. He openly supported the fatwa saying Rushdie should be killed. There's video of him saying that. Sure he took it back, but it's a bit ridiculous to think Cat Stevens is "moderate" or that Rushdie should just let it go.
It's so strange for me to see successful writers talk and laugh like normal people. Maybe I'm still stupid and childish to think that theirtask is something "magical" and from people well beyond my lot. Either way, it's goddamn cool to see Salman Rushdie and Noam Chomsky talk on the same day.
Yusuf did "seam" to support Rushdie's in that program "Hypotheticals". He did repeat over and over again that he did not mean it, that he was "naive", and that he doesn't and will not support that fatwa.
I'm pretty sure Rushdie may have a grudge against him. That's the only way I can explain his claims that Yusuf advocates stoning of women, and his claim on his the statement of his school. I find them very hard to believe. That's not to say Rushdie shall not have the right to say/write whatever
Yusuf Islam tried to remove the video showing his endorsement of the fatwa against Salman Rushdie from YouTube on bogus copyright grounds, but the incriminating video can still be found in the link below. This irredeemable vulgarian should not be allowed to get away with inciting murder against writers. Here's the link:
good questions. i'd like to have some of the author names spelled maybe so i can look them up, or links given in the description maybe. i'll be able to find them of course but maybe there is a type of thing like an Agenda Book Club that could be set up farily easily to help us catch up with things mentioned and learn more when we connect with a guest. Any ideas abotu this? (if the producers are keeping up with this channel)

Oh, I'm excited for that film, I liked the book, and I like Deepa Mehta's films a lot, it seems like an excellent combination.
