This is an updated video to a video I did about 6 months ago where I showed the 10 essential items that I take with me into the wilderness, I mostly take this with me with I am going out for the day and I am going to an area without trails.

It's important to remember that I setup this kit for me and my comfort level, and that I might be very different then yours, so I hope y'all can come away with something from this video.

On my person:
1. Ka-Bar Becker BK2
2. Leathermen Wave
3. Streamlight Stylus Pro
4. Home made double side cotton bandanna

The bag itself is a 18th century style Pathfinder Haversack, you can pick one up at http://www.canteenshop.com

  • nice to see you making a vid from the bush instead of your house. nice kit

  • @blackcawkdown Ha, yeah I hear you. Check out some of my other videos. They are all outside.

I should also update this video something since I have changed some of these items out.

  • @widerstand: are you the widerstand from BladeForums / BK&T forums? great video, thank you!

  • @maethorize I am

  • It's been some months now, is the haversack still working for you? Is the haversack robust enough to use in a survival/wilderness self reliance situation? Personally, I would prefer a fanny/butt pack or a day pack, or even something like a Maratac Extreme "Bail Out Bag". A day pack being my most preferred satchel. Are you planning an update to this video? Thank you for the videos.

  • @abetwo4321 I might do an update sometime, not quite sure as most of it would be the same.

  • Good point about the AMK bivy 2.0. It's excellent and reusable.

  • All that nifty survival sh*t and... not a single beer in sight? Sheesh!

All joking aside... great essentials kit and nice video.

  • @abetwo4321 Yeah I have been using it a lot and it's very well built, I did shorten the strap a bit since it was a bit long for my liking.

A small pack is also good but I like the traditional feel of the haversack.

  • @widerstand elaborate on what you mean by "its a DIY tarp". How did you do it?

  • so how can you boil water? wouldnt that plastic melt or something?
