Here's a funny fact: John Twiford(Judas) was kicked out of the top 50 on American Idol after being told he couldn't sing to a crowd...lol

I can't agree. I saw the show last night in Riverside, CA, and while Neeley was still excellent, I thought the show-stealer was John Twiford as Judas. I preferred his more honest 'rock' approach to Carl Anderson's 'soul-train' take. Sarah Hanlon's take on Mary Magdalene was also fresh, very Sarah Maclachlan style, rather than the 'throaty' voice of Yvonne Elliman from the film.

OH CARL ANDERSON HOW I MISS YOU

@reginaldppuppymurray John Twiford is amazing. He was on America Idol apparently. But he was absolutely amazing when I saw him.Give him a break. This is one of, if not, the most difficult male singing roles in the musical industry.

LOVE John Twiford. I got his autograph and a picture with him when I saw him in Modesto. So amazing.

Jesus loves Ted Neeley.

Sounds like the version that Carly Smithson sang in American Idol. I will always like the bass on the original version better.

I saw Twiford and Neeley when they came to california. Modesto california actually. And I was in love with both of their voices...they were so amazing..Truly a treat to see this show. :) And I even got John Twifords autograph. :)

Makes me miss Carl that much more. Only person I've ever seen who was able to HOLD A CANDLE to Carl was the guy from Living Color, he was AMAZING. This guy? Eh, flat.....

Goodness. This sounds wonderful. Really wish I would have gone to see it a while back when it came to Tampa,Florida.
But unfortunetly even the nose bleed seats were expensive as hell.

For my 18th birthday my Mom gave me tickets to see the original Broadway cast on tour @ the Whiting Auditorium in Flint Mi.. At the time it was one of the top 10 acousticly perfect halls in the world. I left that show stunned! My mom then gave me to see The Broadway cast of Aqarious(forgot spelling). It was at that time of my life I fell in love with Stage Theater. I wish I could have afforded to have seen this years reincarnation here in Miami @ our new hall.

To "Evaahya": To say that about Twiford says more about your ears - or lack thereof - than it does about Twiford's voice, which is stellar. Because of Neeley's reprisal, I saw the play 4-times with Twiford. He has quite simply an incredible live voice - incredible! His delivery is intense, on time and in tune - all run long. He never faltered, not once. I suspect strongly you never saw him live in the role of Judas, else you'd be singing a different tune, for certain. Really your loss.

Not soulful enough to play Judas...... one of the worst I've heard =-(

Just saw this cast in Boston last night....John Twiford as Judas was amazing....thanks for posting this!

I just this very production the day before last Easter. Both Ted and John were so awesome. They both stole the show. I still have my program and ticket from the show. I saw this in my hometown. I had a clear view of the stage from a front row center seat on the balcony. This was so awesome.

I saw this show in Tempe this past weekend from the 3rd row. This was the best song of the show as it rocked. The whole show brought me to tears. My brother & I wanted to see JCS in '71 when it toured the US, but didn't realize it took money to buy tickets. I was 11 and he was 14, and we used to listen to his album all the time. I had waited 39 years to see the show. the voices were awesome and the music very good. I would see it again.

I just came from seeing the show in Tempe AZ...LOVED IT!!! Thanks for posting this video. I remembering seeing the movie with Ted and Carl as a kid and loved it then.
This white twirly coats rivals Carl's white jumpsuit. :)

its Rasmiyyah Feliciano.
No I didn't and could kick myself now. I am seeing another production in the spring and will try to get it then but I am going to be in the very last row on the floor (these were taken from 3rd row) so I don't know how good they will be. Did you know that there has never been a professional recording of a JCS play? We should all write to Ted Neeleys site and ask them to do a recording before he is no longer playing the part.
Thanks for the comment!
