Having a Maule M 5 235 c here in Europe. We a group of Austrian pilots named "Tiroler Gebirgspilotenvereinigung" doing some mountain flights in the Swiss and French alps, just missing the freedom to land everywhere :-( ......... like yo can do

@AirstripBum Yea I get that a lot. Search for Carbon Cub @ Delores point. I posted it in Oct. I got a lot of flak for that one too. My girlfriend asked me if I joined the cheer leading squad when I posted it : (

@peterwinksalot No I didn't. It was closer than I would want, I did give up too much runway in the beginning, but was able to scoot right to avoid the rock.

I have to say the Maule M7 is starting to win my heart over the Carbon Cub SS and the Super Cub!!!

@freediverga Well I have a Carbon Cub as well and I promise it is amazing too! to answer your question I have been flying for about 18 years and I have around 7000 hours. I didn't have the opportunity to get formal backcountry training. I just inched my way in slowly and carefully. If I could have found an instructor in my area, I would have gotten instruction in a heartbeat.
