  • The Birds were house wreckers! Each voice was the equivalent of a perfectly tuned instrument. There was no technology to doctor you up like today. You had it or you didn't. To sing gospel professionally then , you had to sing better than secular singers to make it. That's why when gopsel singers went secular they soared.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written.

  • Love it!

  • IRA TUCKER STILL HAD UNTIL GOD CALLED HIM HOME. THIS GROUP IS A TRUE LEGANCY.

  • @methu124 I totally agree, the "Birds" couldn't and can't be touched, that's why they lasted for years, the favor of God rested on them.....they were and are the standard of gospel...have a blessed day. L.

  • Lord have mercy

  • OHHHHHH YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!

  • Although in my opinion the "Birds" were the best house men ever, most gospel house fans I've talked to prefer Joe Ligon and the "Clouds." Sometimes I think the "Birds" were just too good musically, too many levels to appreciate at one time. Listen to how masterful "Tuck" is here; it's as good as anything Sam Cooke or Jackie Wilson ever did!

  • I had the pleasure to sing and record with Ira "Pop" Tucker. He was my mentor and he is greatly missed

  • I believe the Bass in this is William Henry. I'd know those ears n cheek bones n the sound of that deep whispy bass anywhere..... :)

  • Newport Jazz Festival, 1966 They were on a rotating program with the Swan Silvertones and Dorthy Love Coates' Gospel Harmonettes. After the "Birds" sang "I've Got So Much To Shout About" The audience wouldn't let them leave the stage for the next act. James B. Davis (barritone) had to convince the people to let the "Birds" go!
