Focaccia recipe

FOCACCIA INGREDIENTS: 1 x 7g sachet instant yeast (or 1 sachet dry yeast; 1 tsp sugar; 200ml tepid water); 350g (2 1/2 cups) strong white bread flour; 1/2 tsp salt; 2 tbsp olive oil
To season - 2 cloves garlic; handful of rosemary; salt and pepper, to season; extra virgin olive oil, to drizzle

Do you have to use the machine. Can you do it by hand?

I like all the recipes youve currently got up and have the ingredients to make the pizza. (Thats really why i need to want) :S

You can easily use your hand to make dough. David just likes the speed and convenience of the machine. I just mix with a spoon and then press together with my hands before lifting out onto a clean surface to knead for a minute or two. You can also use a bit of wholemeal flour, and I always use instant yeast mixed in with the dry flour.

hi you certainlt don't have to use the machine... this is just simpler for people who are a bit scared of making pizza dough... takes some of the stress out of it.... just mix the ingredients together with a wooden spoon or your hand and then knead by hand on the worktop (lightly floured if the dough is a little sticky)for about 10 minutes.

nice work we need to keep showing how easy and fulfilling this can be cos we now live in a world where people buy things like pancake mix (just add one egg and some milk,oh so its expensive flour then)get my point
