Part 2

I was thinking last night about how pointless it is to try and change people's minds about us and make them accept us. We just have to learn to do things in a completely different way and take the reins and create our own full, BIG lifestyle as prestigious as we want it. I'm not about beating designers doors down until they cater to us, let them continue catering to their target markets. They don't know how to serve us anyway. It's time to inspire the young, creative and talented people and companies who want to cater to us and cater to us BIG.

  • You say about more professional woman what about a mother with kids thats a tad bigger and needs to cloth her kids first where do we shop on a budget for stylist plus size? They need a plus size forever 21 type of store because we all know walmart doesnt have it with those! I do like walmart plus jeans but no shirts.Torrid is nice in my opinion but a working class mother of 3 its pricey. We get discriminated against because of weight and that extra material doesnt cost that much more for us haha

  • well lol Fashion But is budget friendly. I think the whole point of my video was saying that instead of insisting that the established companies include us, I would love to see more high end designers making full collections for us. There are some but would love for more.

  • Great video, i watched both of your videos. I am so familar with this topic since I am a plus size woman, and I agree 100% as well. We have to love ourselves first, thats all that matters

  • yes we do! TY for watching :-)

  • Yes, Lane Bryant use to be the place to go...They had such wonderful clothing/quality. And then something changed and it became clothes line for senior citizens. But last couple years it seems to be trying to get it together but, they still have a ways to go..

  • yea I think they tried to cater to a little older crowd again. I do get it, there are bigger women of all age ranges but I guess when they change too much in either direction they lose a whole demographic.

  • @Clarie011791 --people think it's okay to be fat." No that is not it at all. I believe that if designers can cater to the bigger women, they'll feel better about themselves and then they can safely look at their bodies and think, "I look amazing now, think about how much better I'd look in a smaller size with a smaller body!" So anyone else who just comes up here to give you shit, they can suck it. = / These are your own personal opinions and you're very much allowed to voice how you feel.

  • I honestly don't agree with most of these users who say stores or designers shouldn't accomodate the plus size crowd, that it's "our own problem". I think it's selfish and pretty shitty to think that way. A lot of women with weight problems are severely crippled in self esteem as it is. Whether they be slim or they be obese. Or in anywhere in the middle. Obesity has become a large problem in the U.S. and sure, I get it, "Don't design Plus Size because it will send the wrong message, make---

  • Also, by your logic, I could say that my skinny sister has the right to rant about how Torrid doesn't accommodate to slim girls? When she can't help being thin? I was recently in America and saw a shop called "No Skinny". If that's not discrimination, I don't know what is. I'm a big girl just like you, but I don't go round complaining about how places don't accommodate to my size. I know it's MY problem, not theirs. They have the right to choose their their target consumers.

  • Instead of whining about not being able to fit into clothes at Forever 21, you could either 1. Lose weight or 2. Shop somewhere else. It's NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I'm from England and here, doorways and houses are all built upward and narrower because there isn't enough room. In America, you couldn't get away with that because the designers would be sued for "discrimination". Some shops are going to cater to smaller people, and some will cater to larger people.

  • Amen sistah. As to Lane Bryant...their trendy style comes and goes. However, lately I've been very impressed with them and love the stretchy "right size" pants. I get tired of the assumption that Lane Bryant is the ONLY store for plus sized girls. Ugh. I continue to hope more designers will recognize and take advantage of that market.

  • Look at Donna Karen for example she felt her body type wasn't being repped with clothing and she started designing clothing for the more cury women like herself and body type. At the end of the day all these clothing brands care about is the DOLLAR. If no one's buying their plus size clothing their not going to invest the time and money they'll stick to the straight sizing.

  • Great video, I totally agree and can relate but at the same time we as plus size women/consumers have to pick up the ball for ourselves. If there is a market that you feel that is not being represented by all means at least one out of the crowd should step up and start creating things for "us".

  • I think lane bryant has nice stuff but way too high priced for my taste. Thats why I stick with dots and fashion bug

  • Loved it! Thanks for the video:)
