I am slightly bemused when I end up on "Austrailan Journalists on Twitter" lists, because I don't feel like that's who I am or what I do. I just create content. And not even necessarily 'newsworthy' content - not stuff that is time sensitive or about the kind of 'conflict' that we have come to see as news. If anything I am on the fringes of special interest.

The point you make about journalists being separate from the communities they report on is an important one. And I think in the context of journalism it is seen as a positive thing, as being "objective." Though I'm reminded of news outlets (if you can call them that) that are so fickle that they can run the same story, taking different sides in consecutive weeks. (Today Tonight, for example).

Journalists seem to be product driven - the content must be objective, rather than process driven - the discussions bring all sides.
re: lists. The lists are not titles they are social networks and value systems.
