"Does This Canoe Make Me Look Fat?" Research Reel

Summer of 2009, Betty Ann and I took a video camera with us on Wild Women Expeditions' trips across Canada. As well, video artist Christina Zeidler agreed to take a camera on a weeklong WWE canoe trip. Our aim was to try and capture what makes all-women wilderness adventures unique.

We met and interviewed some wonderful women... and based on some of these interviews, we invited a group of 5 women to participate in an adventure documentary film on a Northern Ontario canoe trip summer 2010. The documentary working titled is "Does This Canoe Make Me Look Fat?" and we commence shooting for 5 days in July. You will see some familiar faces from this research reel.

We aren't trying to "sell" WWE trips thru this project... you'll note the voices are of WWE members and guides about what they do, what jazzes them and why... plus what they have noticed about women's trips and themselves! but I do think the video indirectly promotes the concept of women only adventure: a decidely North American phenomena so far! Hope it takes off in other parts of the world!!!
