@IamBlair This song is not about Laika, but refers to Laika. I have checked the official website about this song originality. The song was not made to tell the sad story, but to create a fantasy where the dog returns after finding a brand new world.

Instead of saying "I don't think this is supposed to be about Laika" I should have said that I don't think the space dog in this song is supposed to be Laika.My point was that the dog in the song is not Laika, not that the song does not refer to her (as it clearly does when they say "not the first one).

(Also I don't think the lyrics that prove that the dog in the song is not Laika really change the rhyme scheme.)

@FerFerandHidden - I didn't find the lyrics evil.... are you sure you found the right ones? There is another song with the same name (Space Dog) by Tori Amos which has really weird lyrics, but I don't know how you could read those and think they were lyrics for this song...

I don't think this is supposed to be about Laika... in the lyrics (which you can find by searching google "space dog lyrics pop'n music") it says "I'm a Space Dog, Not first one, but the only one"

So they may have been referencing that Laika was the first one? Also the line "Nevermind, you are good boy and brave" shows that the space dog in THIS song is male. Laika was a girl. *shrug*
