  • hey wouldn't not cooking it be a problem with possible salmonella? would there be a way to maybe cook the eggs (separately?) so that it was safer?

    I love this recipe idea I'm just worried about the eggs

  • @Nialacookie You can leave the eggs out if you're worried about the salmonella!

  • Can I soak the Ladyfingers in Orange Juice *sweetened* or Pumpkin Juice cause i'm not confident with any kinds of drink that have beer . *i'm muslim*

  • @jihahmj99 Sure! Try whatever you like. I'd recommend heating 2 cups of milk or milk + heavy cream with 1 vanilla bean split in half, covering the pot with a lid and letting the milk infuse the vanilla for an hour, then dipping the ladyfingers in that. You could take it in an entirely different direction with rose- or lavender- or cinnamon-infused milk, or even just chocolate milk.

  • For those who don't want eggs, you can make a custard from custard powder mix. Just heat up some milk, add sugar and pour in custard powder which you need convert into liquid form by either adding some milk or water. Keep whisking this and it will thicken. Turn off when you see the type of consistency that you see with an egg custard.

  • I LOVE this!!! Made it last year twice and already once this year and will probably make it for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you!! I've made it with cake rather than lady fingers, since I couldn't find it here in podunkville... I think I used pound or angle cake... found pumpkin flavored beer and it was so yummy. used cream cheese once when I couldn't find the marsacapone.

    They wash the eggs at the plants.

    And, salmonella is on the outside, but on the rarest occasions does it make it on the inside through the pores.

    Either way, what can you NOT get sick of these days? You have a higher risk dying while driving a car and thats something we tend to do almost every day. Do you see people running around crying because of that? No, we drive anyways. Whether it's because we have to go to work or because we want chips from the corner store.

  • @calebandstef the shell is very porous so you shouldn't wash the outside and i'm pretty sure its on the inside
