If you buy a license for Windows, you can then install it onto your computer. Like 13thpersoncomedy said, you can install ubuntu, which is a great free OS

Yeah. There's MS-DOS, PC-DOS, Apple-DOS, Commodore-DOS and now FreeDOS which is open source and free.
