What have you become? [I can look after myself] Chapter 7

JESS' P.O.V

After Joe decided to leave me alone I continued peeling veg. A few minutes later Nick came down the stairs and sat at the bar stool.

"Do you need a hand?" He asked me.

"I'm ok." Nick smiled and then his phone buzzed. He took it out of his pocket and a massive smile spread across his face.

"Who's that?"

"Uh..I..just..uh..a friend.." He stuttered making me laugh.

"Emma?"

"Maybe.." I rolled my eyes and opened the fridge to get the steak out. I herd the front door open and then giggling. A girl. Then kissing sounds. Joe and a girl. Why did that hurt so much? I took the steak out of the fridge and dropped it loudly onto the side. Nick jumped and looked up at me, while I put my hands on the side, looking down. I let out a long sigh.

"Do you want me to cook that for you?" Nick asked me. I looked up at Nick and half smiled.

"Thanks." I handed him the steak, but he pulled me into a hug. He buried his face into my neck and I had to take a deep breath to stop myself from bursting into tears.

"Don't let him get to you..it's what he does to girls..he messes with their heads.." He pulled out of the hug and kissed my forehead.

"Just hang in there yeah?" I smiled and nodded. Nick took the steak and went outside to start cooking it on the Barbeque. About 10 minutes later I heard footsteps so I looked over to the door to see Joe kissing some girl. I rolled my eyes and continued cooking the dinner. How could he be so..ARGH. I felt a hand slip around my waist and I looked up to see Joe. I rolled my eyes and decided to not freak out, just to see what would happen.

"Hey babe."

"Joseph." He pulled me closer to him and leant down to my ear.

"You know..it's really sexy when you say my name like that.."

"Argh you've such a perve!" I pushed him away from me and picked up one of the pans. I drained the potatoes and handed Joe the masher.

"Can you mash these please?" I asked him.

"I have better stuff to do baby." He replied. I rolled my eyes.

"Mash them, or we'll have them as they are, up to you." Joe sighed and actually started to mash the potatoes. Wow..was not expecting that. I ran up the stairs and quickly changed into a pair of shorts and top, I didn't really want to eat in my dress. I ran back down stairs and Joe was still mashing. I walked to the back door just as Nick was turning around with a plate full of steak.

"I guess it's done then?" I asked laughing slightly. Nick smiled at me.

"Sure is." We walked inside and dished up then walked over to the table with the plates. I sat down in one spot and Joe came and sat down next to me. Nick gave Joe a weird look, I don't blame him. I mean first he helps with dinner and now he's actually eating with us. Maybe he was changing. Suddenly I felt something warm on my thigh at first I just ignored it but then I felt it get tight around my leg. That's when I realised it was Joe's hand. I looked over at him but he was just eating his dinner like nothing was happening.

"So Jess do you have plans for tomorrow?" Nick asked me. Joe's hand started slowly travelling up my thigh. I took a deep breath and tried to make myself sound normal.

"I-I d-don't know.." His hand started massaging my thigh making my breathing become uneven. I put my hand under the table and quickly removed Joe's hand. I can't believe I even thought for a second that he was changing.

"Ermm..ok..well I'm going to hang out with some uhh..friends.." I looked up him and smiled.

"Emma?"

"Uhh..well..I..yeah..but just as friends.." I smiled. I'm glad Nick was having a normal relationship. Unlike Joe. Joe's hand was suddenly back on my thigh and me being stupid let out a gasp.

"What's wrong?" Nick asked, sounding confused.

"I-I..uhh.. I think I left the gas on.." I quickly stood up and ran into the kitchen. What the hell was Joe playing at?! So what he thought I was hot. He only wanted one thing and he wasn't going to get that from me. No way.

"What's wrong baby?" I jumped and turned around.

"What do you want Joe?" He stepped closer to me smirking.

"Oh baby..I think you know.." He stepped even closer to me and I felt his hot breath on my face as I starred into his gorgeous brown eyes. So he was a jerk but that didn't stop him from being drop-dead gorgeous. He leaned closer to my face but I snapped out of my trance and pushed him away.

"Well tough, you're not getting it from me!" I quickly walked past Joe and back to the table. I sat down and continued eating my dinner. Nick looked at me concerned.

"Should I even ask?" I shook my head.

"I'm fine."

"Are you sure your ok with me going out tomorrow?"

"It's fine Nick, I'm a big girl..I can look after myself.."

"I hope." I muttered under my breath.

Things start getting interesting around chapter 9, I hope you guys like this series, I'm becoming really paranoid..
