Ron Paul: International Bailout Brings Us Closer to Economic Collapse 6/22/09

Congressman Ron Paul talks about the insane war supplemental appropriations bill, which much to his chagrin passed easily last week.

"Last week Congress passed the war supplemental appropriations bill. In an affront to all those who thought they voted for a peace candidate, the current president will be sending another $106 billion we dont have to continue the bloodshed in Afghanistan and Iraq, without a hint of a plan to bring our troops home.

"Many of my colleagues who voted with me as I opposed every war supplemental request under the previous administration seem to have changed their tune. I maintain that a vote to fund the war is a vote in favor of the war. Congress exercises its constitutional prerogatives through the power of the purse, and as long as Congress continues to enable these dangerous interventions abroad, there is no end in sight, that is until we face total economic collapse.

Washington spends with impunity domestically, bailing out and nationalizing everything they can get their hands on, and the foreign aid and IMF funding in this bill can rightly be called an international bailout!"

@kysmik Yes, but here's the problem. We in the US have only TWO options in our politics (Repugs and Dems). And the ruling class of the US likes it that way--this is how they stay in charge no matter who wins the White House. The US needs MAJOR reform in its political system. The American voter need to have more choices in who it votes for besides tweedle dum and tweedle dee. The country needs a 3rd, 4th even a 5th party to keep the whole system honest. Otherwise we get the status quo.

How long will we continue to tolerate the systematic dismantling of America? Congress is drunk on a non stop spending orgy that has no end in sight. Our dollar is going to be WORTHLESS and no one seems to notice! If we are all on public assistance, who will pay? Where is all this money coming from? What happend to this country? If this congress is voted into office again during the next election, we deserve what we get!

you obviuosly don't understand how things work. Banks want you not to pay them back, so then can take your house which they got for free becouse they have the ability to print money out of thin air. Why do you think they doubled the payments??? Study how fractional reserve system works, and you will undestand. If you really want to damage banks, stop paying payments and kill all the bankers or they will come and forclose on you.
