Another great song from the "Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex Vol. 2" CD (Track 10).

Lyrics:

"No time
No long good-bye
No time
No answer for the reason why
No guarantees in life
Save for the end
Which is no big surprise

Time can't be overcome
Time won't wait for anyone
The well is running dry
You know, and so am I

I'm sorry now and then
Sometimes I didn't even give a damn
So sorry...Yes, I am
To leave the ones who made me a better man
time doesn't understand
'won't let up, it never makes any plans
All stories have to end
"Farewell" to all my friends

Twilight, free my soul
Goodnight... 'time I go
Please don't cry for me
Please don't be sad
I'll be all right,
Just my turn, you know
Please don't be mad
It's part of life
I'll wait there for you
'won't be so bad
We all owe time"

Believe me, the whole soundtrack is a masterpiece. You have to get it.

If this piece is used in any of the episodes please send me a PM, I didn't remember it at all.

  • This song reminds me of my mother.

She had a cancer and refused to take a surgery. She said she didn't want toget hospitalized for the rest of her life, just want to stay with us at home as long as possible. She was not afraid of her death at all and told us sometfing like this lyric.

  • I think this song hits so hard because while the subject and mood are definitely sad, the acceptance of death has already happened - it's taking place in that ethereal, mysterious little gap between accepting death and death itself. It's not sad, but it's not uplifting...it's more like moving forward, cutting off the last few ties that are trying to hold it back.

It never ceases to amaze me how Kanno and the vocalists she works with can so perfectly convey all the nuances of each song's mood.

  • Amazing...

  • @ostrichanus Yes, exactly. "4" is pronounced both of "yon" and "shi " depends on the case. "Yon" is a japanese original numeral so we usually say "yon" when count something, "you-juu (40)" "yon-ko" "yon-mai" for example. "Shi" is came from a chinese pronounciation "su" for 4. We use the words "shi-gatsu (April)" "shi-tenno (4 heros)" though, there are not so much words pronounced "shi" for 4.

Well..I think the association 《shi 4 = shi 死death》 is not so traditional in japan :)

  • @rhapsodyblue56 I thought the number 4 was pronounced "yon"? Yon and Shi seem interchangeable from what I've seen. I agree with you on the other points though.

  • Let's also acknowledge the ever unsung hero of that group of artists, the lyricist. In this case, it's Tim Jensen

  • Sound divine :)

  • I LOVE the whole GITS's OST, it's THE BEST OST EVER!!!!!!!

  • @13Xerro some songs from Oceansize are like that, Riverside.... look for progressive post rock bands.

  • I'm trying to find bands like that make music like this, anyone got suggestions to what i could look for?

  • @MrHEMPKING What's the divine number? Do you mean "4" ?

  • @rhapsodyblue56 my friend, yoko kanno is a divine musician, hence the divine number.
