  • @perfuzz Sorry, I should've asked you for permission to use a distortion pedal. My bad. You'll be happy To know I no longer own the amp or pedal. Maybe you'll sleep better at night now?

  • How would you compare 'fender twin + pedal overdrive' and drive channel from an amp like, for instance, bogner shiva (or any other amp that has a good OD channel)? 'cause I love fender clean, but I'm afraid that it isn't really possible to get that full overdrive tone with fender and OD/distortion pedal.. Am I wrong?

  • @luyop I gigged with and had decent luck with that Twin and assorted distortion pedals, but it wasn't quite as good as a good amps distortion channel. Nobody in the crowd new and on at least a few gigs, it sounded incredible. Depended on the room.

  • hey man, i just got the exact new fender twin. i love the clean, but am rather disappointed with the distortion because it has this little fizzy aspect to it. you however dont have this at all, are you running any other pedals in the video other than the purple plexi? if that pedal is the answer i need to get one, i like heavier distortion but i also love classic fender tone.

  • @drover54 What pedal are you using for distortion? I don't have this rig anymore, but I thought some pedals sounded great with the Twin. For example, I was using an HBE overdrive pedal for light drive, this Purple Plexi 800 for med/high gain, and a Krank Distortus Maximus for modern heavier tones. Sounded great to me!

  • Hey thanks for your advice, much appreciated. When running an overdrive and distortion box into the amp input, in what order should I run the pedals, should it be the distortion before the overdrive or other way round? Also I have an MXR micro amp pedal, how should I be running this pedal. Should it go in the amp input and if so what order should it be in the chain? Any help greatly appreciated. I'm pretty crap with effects but I'm learning fast. Thanks

  • In general, folks like to run pedals like OD, distortion, and wah into the front of the amp and pedals like delay, reverb, and chorus in the effects loop. It all depends on where the drive is generated.

Some effects sound better before the 'drive" and others sound better after. If you're using your amps distortion, running pedals in the loop are after the drive. If you're running clean on the amp, you can run everything in front and some pedals before/after the od/distoriton pedals.

  • To be quite honest this is the first decent review I've seen on an overdrive pedal. I've seen so many reviews where there is a fucking TWAT using an overdrive or distortion pedal with a top of the range marshall amp, why the fuck do you need these pedals with a decent Marshall?? Also when testing the pedal with a Marshall, how on earth can you tell in the review if it is purely the pedal that is producing the sound. Marshall's sound pretty wicked anyway. There are some stupid reviews on here

  • @WoWintosh - I wish I could do that, but I don't seem to have it in me to get out of the limelight...

  • @SgtThump - No it's ok, I'll let it pass this time.

  • @perfuzz

Yeah, you can get the cleanest cleans and the dirtiest dirt. Now go back to your basement.

  • Sounds very Charles Trenet !

  • So you buy a 900$ amp known as one of the cleanest amps in tube history just to buy some extra pedals to get some überdistortion. Right..?
