My greyhound loves to sit...........ON THE SOFA!!

@Shazzasaloon91 that is a grey a couch potato...if it is a rescue it has done it's time.....we are here to serve....they are loyal trusting souls but they are not circus pets....they are to be pampered and loved and will return the favor with unconditional love and devotion....though some are receptive...if you want a pet to do tricks search elsewhere....but if you have an access to an enclosed area.....marvel at what comes natural to them......nothing like it.....watching a greyhound run.....

My Italian Greyhound is the same way. I have a video called "Cricket only knows one thing" hahaha.

A word on bloat,it is horrible but can be easily avoided, get your dog into a routine of after every meal they are sent to their beds to relax, i quiet often feed mine breakfast then go back to bed myself or feed him supper then have mine, a good half hour to let the food digest, dont panic too much about treats on walks or straight after its the big meals that can do the damage. Contrary to popular belief not all greyhounds need rigid structure, mine gets up now when i get up unless hes bustin.

Riley: I will do all my tricks at once for the treat...give me the treat!
Our Whippets are just the same!!
the natural sit for a greyhound resembles the sphinx.....why do so many people want to train them to do what is not natural to the breed.....?

@kysteelerja Clearly you didn't take time to read all of the comments before promulgating this clap-trap. SOME greyhounds love to sit...some don't. If a GH wants to sit, let. them. Too assume that all GHs can't is just plain stupid.

Just got our GH - Jake's the Man!! We are so excited and nervous all at once. We want to make sure we take good care of him, he's very anxious about all of the changes, and adjusting to his new lifestyle as well as the stairs to our apartment.
Any thoughts on bloat? It scared the crap out of me that it could happen to him so quickly, and want to know what precautions to take and what to watch out for.
Thanks!

@thehuckabee They are greyt breed for the "right" folks...like any breed. Realistically, a Border Collie wold never really fit into our home, for example.
I've sent you a PM for your questions regarding bloat..I think groups and writers tend to fall into over caution about this...not a bad thing, just not situation "orange" every time they eat something. Hope you have lots a greyt years with Jake!

How did you get your Greyhound to sit??? We've tried so hard to teach mine to sit and she just wont do it. Well she will for about 2 seconds when on the sofa. Any ways Riley looks to be such a great dog.

Some GHs love to sit, some don't. Riley likes to sit, so he does. Brogan doesn't really like to sit, so she does a "down" instead.
