Tough Guy!! How old is he? Is he in the forces? Does he do this demonstration often?  Did other soldiers have to do it next? How did they manage? I like his deep breathing as he struggles to cope.

I ask because I am a cold water swimmer in the UK but my lower limit is about 10C, at that temp I manage about 15 mins. but I guess your brother's dip was more like 0C

its a demonstration for the younger soldiers, and hes wearing hmm how do u say it... Winter underwear. its just warm textile

I'll fill you in. He is a swedish conscript. He is forced to do this. Anyone refusing to do this, despite there not being a choice, can suffer consequences such as being locked up for a period of time. what he is doing is asking permission to get out.

We did this in school. it's pretty hard to speak while in the water.

You must swim on the south coast , 10 c as hot as that.

Tthe little geordie kids get off the trip bus at whitley bay and are straight in the sea, stay all day and at about 7 c ( i kid you not) only complain when told to come out.

i Take dips in the river when i go to the sauna weekly. If the river is frozen, you need preparation: take an axe and hack a whole in the ice. Really, its not that bad at all. you can easily get used to it. I dont see why the applause, sorry.

It does feel great though.

And also, i wouldnt like to stay in 0C water for more than, half a minute to a minute. Some people can stay in such water for over half an hour though :O, that cant feel good.
