  • I love Harry Lauder redords. I used to play my Granmother's old Victrola when I 3 years old. "Roamin in the Gloamin". I was pleasantly surprised to find it on U Tube.

  • Thanks for listening! I have a few more of his records and will post them soon for Harry's fans. His songs are available on CD if you Google him. David N

  • My parents had several Harry Lauder records including this one. I LOVED them. I managed to get some Harry Lauder CD's a few years ago and last January, someone got into my house and stole all my CD's. SOooo, I got several more and put them in the car thinking I would listen to them in the car--somoenone broke the window and took them. Sooo now I am looking for a THIRD set of Harry Lauder CD's.

  • I Googled Harry Lauder and his music is available on CD through several sites. I will be posting some of his records soon. Dirty Rotten Burglars! It seems they will steal anything, just for the sake of stealing.

  • I remember this song from my youth. Haven't heard it in years. I'm inclined to put it on the musical bill 'o fare for next January's Burns Night celebration.

  • I have a few more Harry Lauder records and will put them up for you before January 25. Thanks for listening!

  • my grandpa used to sing this to my brother and me when we wouldnt get out of bed in the mornings!

  • My mother has this record. It is one sided.

  • Wow! I almost did't even try to find this on here. My grandpa still plays this on his old Edison Cylinder Record Player. It was my great great grandma and grandpa's. My mother and grandma use to play this and "Whistling Pete"...Oh how I miss those days.

  • I had never heard of Harry Lauder, but when I took care of my mother who had Alzheimer's disease she sang this song.

I had never heard her sing it in my life before that. I googled to find out if it really was a song. lol She was born in 1913 so I'm sure she heard my grandfather sing this.

It is so interesting to finally find out that there is such a song and to hear it. Thanks for posting it.

  • Ha,ha, wonderful. The first time I heard this was on good ole John Peel's show. Once again Peel introduced me to some great music I would probably never have heard otherwise.

  • clipperwiz you live in a bad neighborhood. its not in Baltimore is it?

  • I think you mean Grannie's Hielen Hame.If so I have it in my favorites.

  • Thanks for memories. Used to listen to this at my granny's. I don't know if she or granda or their parents were Scottish, but they had lots of gramophone records of Harry, and of Will Fyfe. I recall one that went something like: Away in the heelands there stands a wee hoose, and it stands on the breast of the brae.

  • I will look forward to the Harry Lauder music you are going to put on. I am going to get some more of the CD's the robbers took, but probably can't find the same ones as some of them were from wax cylinders. In my area they will take anything to sell for drugs.
