Back in 1989, I set out during a beautiful, surprise early December snow in Richmond, VA to create a video full of memories for my family. My father's job had relocated my parents to Wisconsin, and my sister & I had just graduated college and were on our own. I took my hand-held VHS camcorder and went through our familiar Ginter Park neighborhood, famous Richmond landmarks, and captured what was to be the last couple of years of the legendary downtown Richmond Christmas at Thalhimers and Miller & Rhoads department stores. Edited to our favorite Christmas morning song - the one that says it's okay to come down stairs and start the day. Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks so much for this! I was in college down in Williamsburg in 1989, and did all of my Christmas shopping that year in downtown Richmond. I ended up working at Thalhimers, right up until the last day. Your video caught all of my favorite things about Richmond.
