The brick microcruiser has just been finished and I am doing short little test cruises while I finish the sail. I'm under electric power.

  • I have seen Michalak's DockBox, but thought I could make something that looks a bit nicer. I'll try to send you an image.

Any guesses how far you can get on a charge?

    Bryan

  • The dock box won't take rough water like this boat will. It probably has a little more room in it but I wanted something to be secure in rough water. You can go pretty far on a charge .....alot farther than you think.....on one 126 amp hour battery I went more than 30 miles...the batt wasn't dead yet.......slower is much better and you can go farther.........Robb

  • How has this worked out for you? I've been thinking of something like this myself!

  • Hi....I love this boat....it is everything I thought it would be and more....yes it is small but I knew that going in......handles well and takes whatever waves you might encounter.........Robb

  • i really like this design how long is yours im wanting to build somthing small but i want little more room to move around in maybe like a 13 foot one more room for gear and a spot for the bed. but need it for rough water not no ocean waves but u know strong lake wind waves.

  • where do you get the plans for this boat? did you make the cabin yourself?

  • That is so cool. Bolgers brick is aka the tortoise which spawned the PD Racers is it not? Got any more vids, build pics or a website to share?

  • google microshantyboat and you'll find another microcruiser there.

  • What's the range with the electric motor? Have you tried a gasser yet? Maybe a 2 horse? Have you done any more cruising trips and how did they turn out? I really like the idea and just wanted to know about the reality of the execution?

    Thanks

  • Since I am designing from scratch, any thoughts about why the brick is better? For sure there is that curved bottom. I haven't decided how much to put in yet. I don't want to tackle the ocean, ;-), just don't want too tough a ride from boat wakes and the like. Great range. I was going to go with a small gas outboard, but may try the electric approach.

    Thanks for the info!
