Both SJP and Tracey Ullman, talented as they are, had too big shoes to fill. IMO both lack the tinge of gawkiness Carol Burnett brought to it (SJP seems even further from the mark now that she's so identified with her SATC character, which started shortly after this). I have seen two local productions in which both unknown leads got closer to that quality than Parker or Ullman.

They're both terrific!! ... just different. New technology allows for teenie mics for the singers ... today's sound, Carol was yesterday's mic-less sound... both excellent!

Sarah Jessica Parker's character concept is all wrong. Princess Winnifred is supposed to be bold, brassy, loud, and everything that a stereotypical fairy tal princess is not. Parker's Winnifred is a buffoonish cartoon character.

I like Carol Burrmett's singing more of this song but I think Sarah is better at acting it.
