The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

That caller was a prime example of an educated and intelligent young man who believes nonsense by compartmentalizing and making an exception for his religion. It's more frustrating when you see someone like him who should know better.

The caller may not have been logical, but he WAS reasonably intelligent. Remember, smart people can justify dumb beliefs very well. The whole "Christians are stupid" meme is factually wrong. (And remember, Matt was a Christian for quite some time. The whole problem with religion is that it bypasses and suppresses your intellect.)

And the caller was "going nuclear" by attacking the need for evidence; it works for EVERYTHING! I actually first heard it from someone who thought the Earth was flat.

to say what matt was thinking when the caller asked for a specific verse, Proverbs 3:7-10 Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones. Honor the LORD with your substance, and with the firstfruits of all your increase: so shall your barns be filled with plenty, and your presses will burst out with new wine.
