The shadowy people in the doorways were the archenemies of each of the Champions (The chick who pushed Shadow off the building, the Roman gladiator who cheated in his fight against Trident, the mob boss who tricked Larcen into bringing a bomb into the hospital, etc.)
They were to be the Dark Champion's Infernals.
