In an incredible twist of fate, a Scottish doctor (James McAvoy) on a Ugandan medical mission becomes irreversibly entangled with one of the world's most barbaric figures: Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). Impressed by Dr. Garrigan's brazen attitude in a moment of crisis, the newly self-appointed Ugandan President Amin hand picks him as his personal physician and closest confidante. Though Garrigan is at first flattered and fascinated by his new position, he soon awakens to Amin's savagery - and his own complicity in it. Horror and betrayal ensue as Garrigan tries to right his wrongs and escape Uganda alive.
@DancingYeti187 I would not go as far as using the term whitey, but this role of whites in a black struggle is turning off even white liberals from watching such movies. The sad irony is black house maid raised many white children who later occupied key positions in the west but their story is never told. For a change, Dancing Yeti 187, watch "The secret life of Bees"

mm good movie but a typical rbinson crusoe dilemma. I mean the white european christian that tries to purge africa from the heart of darkeness, c'mon. Amin was indeed a ruthless leader, but how come a doctor becomes the spokesman of the government, makin decisions for Amin , it's a bit over the top yet i really enjoye watchin it!! I really like James Mcavoy very much.
