Id just like to say Thank You to everybody that has watched and left comments on this video, if Mary was still alive to see this today, she'd see how important you all are to her and how the whole world loved and adored her.

This is my tribute to wonderful actress Mary Millar who passed away on November 10th 1998. This beautiful woman was 62 when she died of ovarian cancer. Mary Millar played ''Rose'' in a BBC comedy show of the early 1990's Keeping Up Appearances, she was also popular in the musical theatre through out the decades appearing in many productions such as ''Phantom Of The Opera'' and ''Beauty And The Beast''. Her only other TV role was in the BBC long running soap ''Eastenders'' in 1990 where she played Joan Garwood, Frank Butcher's older sister who came to Walford for an episode. She also made one film appearance playing ''Poppy Dickie'' in the 1970 film Rookery Nook. She frequently appeared on The Dick Emery Show and The Stanley Baxter Show during the 1970's singing songs. She was also the understudy for Julie Andrews during the Broadway production of Camelot who got to appear on stage with Richard Burton for one night. She was born Mary Wetton in Doncaster, England on the 26th of July 1936 and died in Brockley, London on the 10th of November 1998, she was cremated not long after her death. In her youth she got married at 26 years of age in 1962 and had one daughter named Lucy and stayed happily married until the day she died just like in a fairy tale.
Incase viewers are wondering, Keeping Up Appearances is owned by BBC and not by me, but since i'm not making any money out of it I don't see any way that i'm infringing copyright, the original source of this video was recorded off TV and not DVD, so I didn't pirate it. And in this country it is legal to copy off TV. I chose this song from a SEGA Mega Drive video game called Lemmings and digitized it with Mary's voice samples from the show in with my video. I was able to break down the music in the middle part so her voice would cut straight in. I made this video in June 2008 not long after I found out that she died, after all she was the woman that came around the mountain.
Mary used to say that there was a little bit of Rose in every woman, this version of ''She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain'' I dedicate to her, it's a beautiful song for a beautiful woman. Feel free to rate and comment on my video thank you.
Unsung Heroines - Mary Millar: http://www.musical-theatre.net/html/unsungheroines/marymillar.html
MUSIC BY: Hirohiko Takayama (SEGA Mega Drive) 1992.
HISTORY OF THE SONG:
Although the first printed version of the song appeared in Carl Sandburg's ''The American Songbag'' in 1927, the song is believed to have been written during the late 1800s. The song was based on an old Negro spiritual titled "When the Chariot Comes", which is sung to the same melody. During the 19th century it spread through Appalachia where the lyrics were changed into their current form. The song was later sung by railroad work gangs in the Midwestern United States in the 1890s. The song's style is reminiscent of the call and response structure of many folk songs of the time, where one person would shout the first line and others repeat.
LYRICS:
She'll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes, (when she comes).
She'll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes, (when she comes).
She'll be coming 'round the mountain, she'll be coming 'round the mountain,
She'll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes, (when she comes).
The same structure is repeated with the following verses:
She'll be ridin' six white horses when she comes, etc.
Oh we'll all come out to meet her when she comes, etc.
We will kill the old red rooster when she comes, etc.
We'll be havin' chicken and dumplings when she comes, etc.
We'll all be shoutin' "Halleluja" when she comes, etc.
She'll be comin' down a road that's five miles long, etc.
She'll be wearing pink Pyjamis when she comes etc.
INTERPRETATION:
Carl Sandburg, in The American Songbag, suggests that "she" refers to union organizer Mary Harris "Mother" Jones going to promote formation of labour unions in the Appalachian coal mining camps.
Currently the song is usually sung in collections of children's music with slightly different lyrics. The song has been recorded by many musicians ranging from Pete Seeger, to Barney the Dinosaur.
Harking back to the original lyrics of "When the Chariot Comes", the song is sometimes referenced in relation to the end of the world, most notably in The Illuminatus! Trilogy and the comic book Promethea.
PS: THIS IS NOT A RAP SONG!!

@Adam060756 Yeah I saw that, maybe because I'm young and American I haven't heard about her?

@dissident93 It's weird having a gamer like you visit a video like this?
This video doesn't usually attract video gamers, only fans of Mary Millar. But there's nothing wrong with that of course, especially since the soundtrack is taken from a video game with perfect clear voice sampling added by Mary herself to give it twinge of extra enjoyment.

@gemmamarie2010 Anybody can have an opinion but it doesn't extend to insulting the uploader. You're the only one being surely rude, like I said DO NOT INSULT THE VIDEO OWNER, have some respect.
