http://www.keepmecurly.com - check out my blog for more hair style ideas! In this video I show how you can make small changes to a hairstyle every few days to change things up without having to start all over from the beginning. This is done by taking a simple hairstyle and slowly making it into something more intricate. Once you reach the final hair style, you will be able to leave it in for a few weeks!

  • I really appreciate you taking the time to share all this information with us. After watching you and continuing to practice on my girls, I feel a lot more confident with their hair. My question is, do you have a trick for doing the cornrows on the bottom of their head? Do you have them sit a certain way or do you do the braids backwards going up the head instead of down? My oldest is 3, so I always want to make it as easy on her as possible. Thanks!!

  • @Momto2Blessings - Sometimes I have them face me and put their face down in my lap (I keep my legs spread a part so they can breath!). Sometimes I stand in front of them and have them tuck their chin to their chest. It all just depends, but they are really good at cooperating with however I ask them to sit :)

  • I am literally in tears. This is so, so BEAUTIFUL... I'm glad that you appreciate her NATURAL texture and did not opt to realx her hair. How did you learn how to braid and care for her hair?

  • @munkoa - I learned everything I know from a yahoo group of adoptive mothers. Now I have my own blog where I am trying to help and inspire other adoptive parents with their kids hair! But EVERYONE is welcome if you like cute girls hairstyles!!!!

  • Your daughter seems like such an obedient child. She sits there for these videos so quiet. I'd like to see a few videos with her playing, just being a child. I know how long a child has to sit to get their hair done. You're doing a great job!

  • @sOnlight67 - yes my daughters are very good at getting their hair done! Thanks! I am starting a new website all about hair, but it will have some more personal stuff about my family too. You might get a feel for the other parts of my girls personality there! Watch for the announcement about the site coming soon!!!

  • HEY KATE! GIRL I JUST DID DIS HAIRSTYLES ON MY DAUGHTER AND IT CAME OUT SO CUTE, BUT I USED ABOUT TWO PEICES OF WEAVE SO I COULD BRAID THE EDGES CUZ SHE DOESNT REALLY HAVE A LOT BUT I AM LOVING DIS STYLES...BIG UP'S TO U...THANKS HUN!

  • @keunnea1 I would caution you to be careful with such a young baby, their hair is usually very fragile and they have soft scalps. I didn't start braiding until my daughter was about 1.5 or 2.

  • @keunnea1

Practice, practice, practice no matter how ugly they initially look. I didn't know how to braid before I had my daughter and I can tell you, the first several times they were terrible but they started getting a lot better. I say about 2 years later people started to ask me to do their hair or their kids hair.

  • This was great..and one more thang Off subject but not really...make sure to keep lotion or a nice face safe oil on her face..As black ppl we need that..she's very kute...and nice work mom
