Arabic Romeo & Juliet/ Violin سجى الليل/ محمد عبد الوهاب

From the classical Arabic love stories, it is relative to Romeo & Juliet, the story of this song happened at night time and that's why I used dark bleu in this video, the Original melody by the great Arabic Composer Muhammad Abdel-Wahab and the Original Arrangement was by the great French composer Andre Raider.
The original song was taken from Kays and Layla (Layla and the Mad) Operetta, Music by M.A.Wahab and the text by the greatest poet Ahmad Shawqi, he got a name as (The Prince of the poeters), the Operetta was a singing dialog between M.A.Wahab and the great Female singer Asmahan, at the end of the Operetta M.A.Wahab continue with singing this song, when anybody listen to M.A.Wahab singing this song he feel that (Kays) was really crying for loosing his love (Layla).
Because of this story happened in the desert that's why I used a lot of images from the desert, camels, huts and tents.
After recording that complete Operetta M.A.Wahab recorded this part as a separate and complete song with the name of (Saja Al-Layl) and that means (The night came).
By the way I played with the Great Composer Muhammad Abdel-Wahab four times while I was student at the Cairo Music Conservatory at the 70th of the last century, at that time he stopped singing and he just compose for the other very famous singers, it was a real great honor to play with a great composer such as Muhammad Abdel-Wahab; it is a very big dream for any Arabic musician just to meet or to see that Great Composer.
There is a connection between this video and my previous one (Cleopatra Overture); I got the last theme of Cleopatra Overture from this song.

هذه الأغنية من روائع موسيقار الأجيال محمد عبد الوهاب، لقد كان قد لحن أوبريت مجنون ليلى التي هي من
روائع أمير الشعراء أحمد شوقي، لقد كان الأوبريت عبارة عن ديالوج أو محاورة غنائية بين محمد عبد الوهاب وبين المغنية الكبيرة الراحلة أسمهان. في نهاية الأوبريت بدأ موسيقار الأجيال ينشد هذه الأغنية الساحرة المليئة بالتعبير العالي وكأن قيس كان يبكي على فقدان حبيبته (سجى الليل)، بعد أن انتهى موسيقار الأجيال من تسجيل الأوبريت أعاد تسجيل هذه الأغنية لتصبح أغنية مستقلة باسم (سجى الليل)، وبما أن كلمات الأغنية هي كلها تدور في الليل لهذا فقد استخدمت في هذا الفيديو الألوان الزرقاء القاتمة. التوزيع الأصلي لهذه الأغنية هو للموسيقار الفرنسي أندريه رايدر الذي وزع أغلب أغاني موسيقار الأجيال في حقبة الأربعينات والخمسينات مثل أغنية لا مش أنا الأبكي التي قمت أنا بإعادة توزيعها ثانية. وبسبب أن القصة كانت قد حدثت في الصحراء العربية فقد استخدمت صورا للصحراء وللجمال وللخيم وللأكواخ.
جدير بالذكر بأنني كنت قد شاركت العزف مع موسيقار الأجيال محمد عبد الوهاب أربع مرات (بكل فخر) حينما كنت طالبا في كونسيرفتوار القاهرة كان ذلك في السبعينات من القرن الماضي، أنه حلم كبير لأي موسيقي هو فقط لقاء أو حتى رؤية موسيقار الأجيال. كان موسيقار الأجيال في ذلك الوقت قد توقف عن الغناء تماما وكان فقط يلحن لكبار المغنين آنئذٍ.
يوجد ربط بين هذا الفيديو وبين الفيديو السابق والذي هو افتتاحية كليوباترة حيث أنني كنت قد استخدمت اللحن الأول في هذه الأغنية وجعلته اللحن الأخير في عملي افتتاحية كليوباترة أو كيلوباترا كما يقول موسيقار الأجيال.
