Great job representing Millard!
My boyfriend is in the second line from the drum line, the last in the line and furthest from the camera. :)


160 total, 2 drum majors, 50 brass, 29 percussion, 62 woodwinds, 2 banner carriers, 15 color guard.

Varsity Marching Band - Students Grades 10 through 12. This is our competitive field show band.

Mass Marching Band - All Band students grades 9 through 12. This group performs in parades and Pre-Game at home football Games.

Three Concert Bands - Present four concerts during the year, as well as participating at Concert Band Festivals.

Concert Band - 9th Grade students Symphonic Band - Grades 10 through 12 Wind Ensemble - Grades 10 through 12 by audition.

Jazz Band - Rehearses outside the school day. Performs on concert and at Jazz Festivals.

Pep Band - All Band students. Plays at home basketball games.

2005-2006 Fiesta Bowl Activities: Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade – 3rd Place in Class Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship – Advanced to Finals Competition, 6th Place overall, 2nd Place Outstanding Drum Majors

Our Marching Band competes regionally in Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota, and Kansas. The band consistently earns Superior Ratings. Last year the Band finished in 2nd Place in class at the Sound Sensation and received the award for Outstanding Colo Guard, Advanced to Finals and finished in 5th Place overall at Starfest, finished in 2nd Place overall at the Omaha Marching Invitational, and received a Superior Rating at the NSBA State Marching Band Contest.

The Band participated in the 2005/2006 Fiesta Bowl Activities. We finished in 3rd Place in Class in the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade. The band advanced to Finals, finished in 6th Place overall, and received the 2nd Place Drum Major Award in the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship.

The Millard West Wind Ensemble performed at the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association's Annual Conference in March 2009. This was the second time the Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the convention.

Our Band Program has been recognized by the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association the past two years for Excellence in Academic Achievement.

Since the school's opening in August 1995, the Millard West Band has established a tradition of excellence. The band program consists of 165 students participating in Marching Band, three Concert Bands, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and chamber ensembles. Freshman students participate in the Mass Marching Band and the Concert Band. Sophomore through Senior students participate in the Varsity Marching Band and either the Symphonic Band or the Wind Ensemble based on auditions held in early November. All students are strongly encouraged to participate in chamber music, whether performing solos or in small ensembles. Our ensembles have received Superior Ratings at the state, regional, and national level. The Wind Ensemble has been selected to perform at the Nebraksa State Bandmasters Association's State Convention twice. The Marching Band performed in the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band Championship.

The American Music Conference has named the Millard School District one of the Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America four times, most recently in 2005.
