Festivities at Clark's Trading Post during Railroad Days 2008. Part One includes a shuttle ride along the Pemigewasset River with Porter #1. Then we'll catch some highlights from the bear show before climbing aboard a geared double-header bound for the infamous Wolfman's territory. Part one of two.

  • Awesome vid. Are you going to be there this weekend? I am and for the Conway scenic Railroad weekend on sunday. I've never been to the conway scenic railfan weekend. I can't wait!

  • Eh... you won't see me. Unfortunately I'm stuck at home this weekend. Have fun up there - I'm sure you'll really enjoy CSRR's event too regardless of 7470's absense.

  • How many miles of Track does the railroad run on? =)

  • The railroad is currently about 2.5 miles long, though lately there is talk of plans to extend the line by about a mile. Ultimately this would allow for multiple train operation, Strasburg-style, or so I've heard.

  • Is that the engine that used to diplay in front of Loon Mt. No. 1 Porter

  • As far as I know #1 was never displayed at Loon Mountain. The Baldwin 2-4-2T #5 seen in Part 2 was at Loon prior to 1999 when she was traded for the locomotive that's there now, another 0-4-0 Porter (#3).

  • Last year The climax broke a driveshaft. so the US Army #1943 had to do the excursion train and caboose rides together

  • Hiesler #4 Is out of service now because the boiler is getting the stay bolt replaced

  • Great video, I need to go up there and visit Clark's one of these days.

  • Great Railroad footage! How pathetic they have a trained bear act! That kind of cruelty not allowed up here in Toronto.

Some amazing steam locomotives for sure.I liked the US ARMY switcher too. It was cool to see that porter poling the car! Really is there anything like the sound and smells of a steam engine!

  • Hello I'm one of the railfans that goes up for Clark's every year. You missed a hell of an event this year. The only bad thing was the Heisler wasn't running.

  • thanks. Yeah I'm a bit bummed that 7470 isn't running but I've ridden behind it before so its okay. I'll get to ride their new RDC car though.
