The cue ball and object balls are frozen to the foot rail, and you need to get shape on the 9 ball on the head rail.

Use extreme low right with a strong smooth stroke with lots of follow through. The resulting action of the cue ball is caused partly by draw, and partly by the english which spins the cue ball off the long rail.

El Maestro, in the white shirt, demonstrates first, and then me (dark shirt).

Through the miracle of video editing, you don't have to suffer through the 40+ times I tried this shot and flubbed it before I finally made it.

Try it!

Video shot at Fast Mikie's Fun House in Del Mar, CA.

  • u can do the same thing with a lil high left

  • yes, that may be true, but that is not the object of this lesson, which is to find alternate paths to getting position.

if the path going forward with top left is blocked, then this path may be available.

  • That's a great shot. I can get the cue ball up there but I usually rattle the object ball. What part of the pocket are you aiming?

  • Watch carefully how you miss and adjust accordingly. I aim fuller than a cut and English/draw *throws* the object ball.

  • i can this shot its easy

  • good for you!

  • Similarly, and depending on your angle, you could give it hard follow with left english, but it's a harder shot and would only be used if your nine was on the right side of the table.

  • Easy and Useful shot :)

  • is that the only way to prepare for that 9 ball ? or are there any other way ?

  • Excellent shooting.

  • easy :D
