Sidis are a little known ethnic group in India, who trace their roots to Africa. Brought as slaves, soldiers, and workers to India 800-900 years ago, they brought African traditions that have been passed down for generations. Sidis still preserve much of their physical African features, their cultural practice; their music and dance forms.
This clip is of and old man playing the "Malunga" which is a dead ringer for the Brazilian Berimbau. Both instruments trace their roots to East/Southern Africa. Excerpt from a film by Salil Sachdev.

The Malunga is likely derived from specific East African musical bows such as the Kenyan Ntono or the Mozambiquen Xutende. Although it is also a braced, gourd resonated musical bow with a rattle incorporated in the playing technique, there is no connection what so ever with the Brazilian berimbau, which was derived from a fusion of various Kongo/Angolan bows.
