Here's a clip from the classic Curtain Time Theater hosted by Johnny Ginger. This is from Johnny's personal archive. This show was aired on WXYZ CH 7 in Detroit in the late 50's and early 60's.

  • @ppixi123 Hi Patti! Thanks for sharing your memory of my Dad!

  • Wow, I never thought I'd ever be able to actually SEE him again, let alone segments from his show back in the early '60's. Thank you. Where did you get this from anyway? We didn't have any recording devices, nothing. How you do it???

  • This is from Johnny's personal collection. He had them transfered to 16mm film back then.

  • How in the world did you get hold of this??!! What memories!

  • I am Johnny's son. I'm glad you enjoyed the clip.

  • watched johnny every morning in detroit and got my dose of the three stooges before heading off to school. great days, great times, great memories.

  • Wow, It's been a while.......

  • Outstanding clip!! What a gem! And damned clever for its time.

  • Just saw Johnny Ginger live in concert (June 2011). As always, he was the consummate entertainer, excelling at impersonations, ad libs and a few musical salutes. We are truly blessed to still have him with us.

  • I watched Johnny every day during the late 50's and very early 60's. Boy does this bring back memories. I used to love these sketches and as I watch it now I don't know how he did it so perfectly considering the technology of the times. As I type this, one that comes to mind is one he did with Jackie Wilson's "Lonely Teardrops". Hey, rochestra, does your dad have a copy ot that one?

  • Just saw an article about JG in Filmfax magazine. It's cool to be able to watch this clip of his vintage show---the article said all the tapes had been wiped by the TV station. Thanks for posting!

  • I was small, but can still remember this as well as The Friendly Giant, Bozo, Oopsy Daisy, Poop Deck Paul, of course Soupy, and was it Jerry Booth's Fun House? LOL!! How about Rita Bell Prize Movie, and Bill Kennedy...! Great stuff! Thanks for posting/sharing with us!

  • Johnny used to live one street over from me when I was growing up in Garden City during the 60's. Use to go over there all the time and ask for 3 stooges picture, etc..
