The World Economic Forum is holding its Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, from January 23 -- 27, 2008. YouTube is promoting online involvement by inviting people to submit videos that answer "The Davos Question:" What one thing do you think that countries, companies or individuals must do to make the world a better place in 2008?
This is one of many videos created in response to The Davos Question...from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada:
One simple thing that we can all do is take a few seconds each month to notice the latest scientific measurement for atmospheric carbon dioxide -- the leading greenhouse gas responsible for global warming and climate change. If a lot of people were to give some deliberate attention to this single yet significant measurement, the world would gain a more objective understanding and common ground on the current CO2 direction for the planet as a whole, and it would gain more capacity and motivation to addresses the major generational challenges of global warming and climate change. Look at the most recent data...last month's data and take note that the long-term, upward trend for carbon dioxide is as strong and unrelenting as ever. What does the data say to you? Here is the belief and faith behind this video: The world will expand its capacity and motivation to actually solve the relentless rise of CO2 when more people tune into the current monthly CO2 number. Watch CO2 and solutions will follow.
Check out the video here at YouTube. Check out the raw scientific data on this FTP page: ftp://ftp.cmdl.noaa.gov/ccg/co2/trends/co2_mm_mlo.txt. Or, check out www.themostimportantnumber.org, a new website that's dedicated to getting the latest CO2 data out in front where its needed.
Very good video, it would be nice if they had alternate energies for commercial vehicles. Its very expensive for transportation companies to lower their fuel emissions because of the cost. Even biodiesel can only be used only to a certain percentage inorder not to void the warrantee. I.E. City buses in Mexico City, high emissions, high commercial traffic. Uncommon technology is always more expensive
