That's funny.. How would air reach your diaphragm if it doesn't pass your lungs? Your lungs are located in your chest, and the main reason why we breathe through our diaphragm is to increase the capacity of our lungs for us to sustain air.

Hello "smallquietcheese". Regards to Abigail, she's been a friend for the past three years. The other same Singing Techniques video was uploaded and dedicated to her to help her out because I've seen the hard days when people tried to put her down because of her singing. I hate cyber bullying, and so videos like this would be an inspiration and a guide for beginners like as her. As for you, you could achieve anything if you got passion and if you believe in yourself. Keep dreaming!

Try this exercise: Inhale deeply and while the air sustained, try to release long notes while releasing air gradually and slowly. Mark the time and see how long you can sustain air while singing a single note.
Sustaining air is like diving in water - you don't want to drown yourself by releasing air abruptly. Sustaining means you should have enough air to reach the highest note or have the last breathe until the end note of the line or stanza.
