  • Good collection of the first of five 'British Classics' of the turf flat season. The 2006 running of the 2000 Guineas is probably the one I seem to remember in this video. Nashwan, the 1989 winner went on to win the Epsom Derby, Eclipse and Ascot's King George. Sea The Stars, the 2009 winner won the Epsom Derby, Eclipse, York's International Stakes, Irish Champion Stakes and Longchamp's Arc De Triomphe.

  • @ frankschlanker. I totally agree,I remember Tony elves headline on fron of the racing post after a piece of work he had done, he said I've just seen the derby winner. Such a shame he got injured and obviously wasn't over it in the Irish derby..

  • @MrBetfair77 I think we were robbed of the talent that was Kings Best that year!!

  • I still have nightmares about the ride spencer gave hawk wing,he was drawn high near the rock and ended up down the centre. I backed hawk wing all winter ante post so was obviously sethinge....Totally agree about the lockinge. Awsome performance against some great milers. Kings best would of beat anything that day he won though with that turn of foot that made giants causeway look like a plater!

  • really, my favourite races of the year, the guineas. getting those ante post bets on. whie moonstone for me next year. shame it didn't go further back and show el gran senor. best I ever saw at newmarket. thanks for posting though, great stuff.

  • Zafonic was the most impressive hands down

  • george washingtons win was for me the most impressive....I totaly beleive that on his day george was unbeatable over a mile...he won so easy being eased up....he could have won by half a furlong if he kept on to the line.....dont forget who the second was also, Sir Percy who then went on to win the derby which included the great dylan thomas

  • @meerollll Typical Jamie spencer though my friend have you seen hawkwings run after in the lockinge theres a video on here also he won by 11 lenghs in a 7 furlong group 1 some performance....Would have been great to see him take on the rock again....I wouldnt be sure who would have come out on top

  • Gotta agree with 5overlord, Celtic Swing was well beaten on merit. The unluckiest horse in that montage was Hawk Wing - talk about a stinker of a ride by Jamie Spencer!

  • @antonyrr1 Moral victor my arse, Pennekamp hammered Celtic Swing for pace and the margin of defeat flattered him. Had Jarnet been a little more patient Pennekamp would have won more comfortably, he could have gone past any time he chose.
