  • @rtofield When i first took shrooms i totally lost control and guess what? i had the time of my life. The best time! now I have an incredible disdain for control. i think it's a waste of a perfectly good life. those who seek complete control of their lives end up breaking into pieces where they can't get this thing. Those who seek to control others end up alone and negated. Control filters you from 99% of life's experience. The meaning of life is not a cozy 9-5 with benefits,go LIVE you tools!

  • Like it or not, believe it or not, If you are somehow part of the system, yes, you are being controlled.

  • what he is saying is that yes there are people out there trying to control things, but you can't have control! that is the illusion that they want you to believe, that they are all powerful, that there is nothing you can do about it.

  • He defines the concept of 'being in control' in a very narrow sense to be able to dismiss the idea of organized conspiracy.

  • I've never heard of this guy before. I already like him quite a bit :)

  • @crackahcrackah

I'm aware of the great extent of conspiracy in this world. But the central point is that there are so many competing conspiracies + the overwhelming chaos of reality going against anyone's attempt to control it all, that = there is no overarching single conspiracy running the world, as far as I can tell. I take a lot of my perspectives on the matter from Robert Anton Wilson, who was very observant on conspiracy theories as well as psychedelics.

  • @crackahcrackah

The fact you singled out McKenna as a possible conspiracy member has driven me to the reassurance that I shouldn't be paying too much attention to people like you lol. Forgive me for my insulting tone.

  • @crackahcrackah Hell with some superficial research it looks like McKenna IS a jew. So of course he's going to facetiously mention jews, conspiracies, and power. I had my suspicions about this guy, even more after hearing this speech. Yeh sure man. No one's in control. I won't risk a tasing/beating/mugging/kidnapping if I don't pay taxes, speed every where, travel with out a license plate, etc.

    Riiight.

  • @alliant Conspiracies happen all the time. The fact that some people give them serious consideration is lost on those who fail to see the big picture. The latter lack the capacity, even on psychedelics, to comprehend what the former have the capacity to perceive. Then there's those who attend to conspiracies while lacking the capacity to discern between real or psyop.

  • @BigGift1

but to what extent - this is what McKenna is trying to emphasize (trying to chill out the major conspiracy nuts who tend to hang around the psychedelic/radical-philosophy community)

  • Electric Caves is a post-industrial/trip hop/ambient act feat. Terence McKenna on tracks 8 & 10. Check then out over at electriccaves.bandcamp.com
