NEW YORK -- September 10, 2011. The United Auto Workers (UAW) is a diverse union with a long history of fighting for workers' rights. Likewise, the National Writers Union - UAW Local 1981 - has been fighting for freelancers' rights for 30 years and this year affiliated with US Labor Against the War (USLAW). The NWU contingent, part of the larger UAW presence, at this years' Labor Day march, finished the annual parade by standing with striking workers at Central Park's Boathouse Restaurant.
