So my husband found these sheep taking a hike with our dog and called me to come assist him. He had only at that time fouund the ones in the creek. Little did he know that the entire hillside was covered with distressed, dead and dying animals. You could see every rib and the stomachs were concave and you could see the spine. There eyes were rolling in their heads, guts hanging out and several were foaming at the mouth. Our concern was to get help for the animals. The shepard was in his camper and was not doing anything to help the distressed animals. In my opinion he was leaving them their to die. I am not sure why Heritage Ranch allowed the sheep to come this year with the drought their is not any grass for them to eat. It looks like the sheep have not been fed for some time. Hay nows at $22 a bale. Was the livestock owner intentionally starving them for a future insurance claim? Why did he shear his sheep early in the winter with the forcast of a big storm in the coming? Why did the owner not round up the herd so they could have some sort of body heat from each other safe in a pen with some sort of shelter? Why did they leave them on the hillside in pain to die? Why didn't the Sheriff's office send a deputy right away? Why didn't Heritage Ranch send a security officer we pay for to come investigate? I am a home owner, I pay for security with my dues, we were there for two hours and called three times to the gate to alert them of the situation. No-one came to help with this situation. We even drove to the main marina to get fish and game out there. Peta was the only savior who would listen and wanted to help these animals from suffering. I am so full of anger from what I saw and dissapointed. I am ready to sell my house and leave Heritage Ranch this sickens me! We raced home to contact the Sheriff's office again, security again, fish and game, the human society and Peta. With nighfall and the rain our options were dwindling. The next morning we went to investigate and document the situation for evidence to fight what we feel is extreme animal cruelty. Please watch the next video it get worse! If you feel this is animal abuse please contact Sherrif's office (they came the next day after the guy covered his tracks) The Sherifs's office tried to tell me this is ranching yet I grew up on a Ranch and the Ranchers who have viewed this believe this guy belongs in jail. Please let the Sherrif's office know that you feel this is animal cruelty and charges need to be brought against the livestock owner. Refer to case # 1403-01582 the number is (805) 434-4390. My biggest concern is for the rest of the herd he took with him the next day. They need you help!
