Performed by Peter Eom, cello with the MusicaNova Orchestra conducted by Warren Cohen. The well known broadcaster Hugh Downs began composing when he had down time at NBC in the 1940s. This work was written for Yo-Yo Ma in 1997. The depiction of "coherence emerging out of chaos" is very clear in this work.

Peter Eom is the Principal Cellist of the Phoenix Youth Symphony and the recent winner of the Alexander and Buono International String Competition. He is sixteen years old.

The MusicaNova Orchestra, the first fully professional orchestra based in Scottsdale, is dedicated to the performance of new and neglected repertoire, along with the development of a fine musical culture for the region.
