@Sahuarojoe The market might be flooded "now" and so it was when I started 15 years ago. but just wait. before you know it. and I mean by winter. you'll have more to chose. it runs in cycles sort of speak, it was like that when I was a student and it still that way. in this field is easy to be in demand if you stay sharp in critical care or even peds and neonates. and YES I jumped through the hoops before I got a full time position. but I can't complaint. I love this job.
Been an RT for years...and here is the deal, if you work hard you will get the better jobs. Half the RTs out there don't want to use their brains, are unmotivated, and deserve the title of Neb Jockey. Expand your education. I make good pay, and have an easy, though specialized job. It is what you make of it
Resp. Therapy market is now flooded. it was in demand 1999-2007 but now, new grads and the really exp. will have hard times finding jobs. It isn't a bad gig if you're in between that. 3-8yrs exp. because they can use you almost anywhere. True, you can expect to make around 25-30/hr, but right now you'll be hired as "pool/prn" which means no guaranteed hrs and no benefits. You'll prob have to do that type of work for at least 6mo in metropolitan areas before you're offered a full time positi
This video is such a fake of the real world...in the real world, you will be given about 10 to 15 patients to see. You wont be standing around in groups as if you re rounding, you only do that as a student in most places, doctors dont care about what you think, even if you know that a patient responds better to a different med, yeah you operate autonomously because everyone is busy with their own assignments to help each other out. The hospitals are there to make mo ey and they will try to squ
@5959512 Sadly it is the way it is...especially in a city that has multiple Respiratory Programs. Those cities will be saturated with graduates that also hurt because they keep the salaries low... I live in Brownsville,TX.(pop 178k). I like the field but I personally wouldnt recommend it. San Antonio has like 3 programs and tons of hospitals but salaries are in the $17 - $20 range from what I hear.( I made that 10 yrs ago) ..Right now i`m in the $30 an hr range
respiratory is a limited opportunity jobs. You cant do more than nebs, manage vents, PFT`s,Suction patients, And everyone else shits all over your parade. You are the migrant workers of the medical field. You can only find jobs in the winter with summertime positions are virtually non existent. So if you wanna find a new job good luck because you will be basically screwed and in the winter time you are screwed with impossible loads of work while a lot of supervisors or brown nosers.
I have been a Respiratory Therapist for 37 yrs. We still do unnecessary bronchodilator therapy. I would like to see all of these therapists who lecture on Cultural Diversity, modes of ventilation lecture about why we do so much useless nebulized treatments.
