I think the interviewer guy didnt need to make it so dramatic. We all know enough about his childhood, the details dont really matter. It is obvious he was trying to tell the guy he didnt want to answer more questions like that.

Today Joe Jackson's behavior..would be about anger issues...and he needed therapy to get past that. But in those days, a father using the belt on the kids, was considered 'normal'. and it is in Katherine's words 'how black people raised their children'..and clearly it is what father Joe was used to as a child. Throwing a child against a wall, is most certainly going to injure them...is a wonder that Michael didn't suffer brain damage when a child.

@sadmoonrisin Correction: Michael received his license at the age of 23 so that would be his early 20's. I also read "Michael Jackson:The Magic, The Madness, The Whole Story" by J. Randy Taraborelli and I have the book. I haven't read the whole thing but I've read up to the part when Michael received his driver's license.

Childhood can be wonderful if you feel loved by your parents/family and friends but for a lot of people that is not the reality. When the family falls apart or a child gets hurt by other children/adults or a child is used for purposes that no child should be as Michael was, it can wreck a child's life and takes away that feeling of innocence and can turn them against the world. I think Michael wanted to relive that feeling of innocence he felt as a child and make up for what he didn't have.
